Our Story

A home away from home since 2015

Banalata Homestay began in 2015 with a single home in Sillery Gaon, a village most maps still overlook. What started as a few rooms and a family kitchen grew, mostly by word of mouth, into a small group of homestays spread across the Silk Route region of Sikkim and the Kalimpong hills.

The idea never changed: hygienic rooms, real home-cooked food, and prices that don't punish you for travelling off the beaten path. Every stay is still run the way the first one was — by a local family who wants you to leave rested, well fed, and already planning your next trip back.

Stories from the road

In our guests' own words — many of them written in Bengali, just as they sent them to us.

“Booked a 3N/4D Silk Route trip through Banalata and it was the smoothest offbeat trip we've done. Zuluk stay had the best view we've woken up to.”
